How do you check the transmission for a Ford Falcon 2001 Au Ute?

the only way you can check au falcon transmission levels is on a hoist really because you have to check it running in park and at proper operating temperature. What makes it difficult is the checking point is actually a plug (16mm or 5/8inch) on the drivers side of the transmission near the back. hence it's really important to have the car on level ground. We found you have to check them running because if you check them hot with the car switched off, the transmission is about a litre done from the correct level.
