The transmission vent on a 2001 Ford Taurus is found on the engine. It is on the driver's side of the engine.
On Taurus 2003 and on Ford windstar it's located on top of the transmission, close to the shifting lever. It's covered with a small rubber cap that has inside ribs to allow air flow.
The vent is on the front pump. It is inside the bell housing.

There is a redesigned transmission vent that should fix this problem.
On a 1997 Ford Taurus : In the power distribution box ( which is " live " ) located in the front of the engine compartment , near the battery ( mini fuse # 28 is a 15 amp fuse for the heated oxygen sensors and canister vent )
It connects to the crankcase vent, the air filter and the valve cover.
Never found one on mine. But you do have a drain and filler plug.
