You can do of a dew different ways by sound or sight start the van and remove the plug wires one by one and listen for changes in the sound of the motor or you can remove the plugs from the block and keep the wire connected to see if you have spark that way..just use insulated plyers when doing this to avoid shock
Remove spark plug wire and hold near engine block (with insulated gloves) to see if it is firing - if so may have to do a compression check to see if problem is internal
if the distributor is not firing. check to see if your engines compression; if compression is at zero, then you need a new engine. Mazda millenia, 626, ford probe have this problem.
Pull the number one plug wire off and see if there is a spark from that to the engine. If there isn't then have your coil check or replaced
You should check the battery, transmission, and maybe the engine
Ford Engine Firing Orders Check related link below.
Have the wheels balanced I would check tire balance and check for warped rotors. Check tires for blisters and check the steering linkage for worn parts. Check the shocks and the engine to see if it is not firing all cylinders.
The firing order for the 4.3L engine is 1 6 5 4 3 2
A non firing engine can be caused by many things. A bad crank sensor or coil pack are the first two places to check for problems.

Check for hairline cracks (very hard to see) inside the distributor cap. This causes cross firing.
First check the engine itself to ensure good sealing (compression). if that's ok, then check spark/fuel. Ensure all firing, see if any fouled, set mixture for highest vac. Check timing initial & total when all in. Start there.
