maybe check for a worn CAM LOB.
If the motor is the same the wiring harness should fit. Only thing I would check is the sending units. As long as both vehicles have gauges or both have warning lights all should be fine.
yes, but check engine will probably come on and stay on
Check out your control module under your distribtor cap.
You can't, it is not adjustable, The timing is controled by the computer and there is no reason to mess with the timing. Now if you Have had the distributor out and put it back in and the engine will run and it has no check engine light on then you got lucky. Now if the light is on then you will have to get an OBD2 engine scanner and then go into the timing mode and move the distributor until you get cam and crank in time and the check engine light will go off. Tighten distributor and the computer will do the rest.
Need to replace ingnition module in the distributor. First check coil and coil wire, And when your in the distributor make sure you check the two electric wires that go to the pick-up coil in the center of the distributor, make sure there not broken ( PULL ON THEM A LITTLE ) Need to check these things first.
It should be 6 degrees before tdc, just make sure you disconnect the distributor's computer control wiring harness before you adjust, and check the timing with a timing gun.
Check the module under the distributor cap.
on gmc's and chevy's there is a spot in the wiring harness that goes down the back of the engine block on the passenger side next to the distributor, this section of harness continuously rubs on the back of the block, more so if an intake manifold gasket was just replaced. it will rub a hole in the wiring loom and ground out there. check it out and see.
