Really you don't. I know, they stink! Some people do, but it really isn't recommended. Just keep there cage clean and your hamster shouldn't smell that bad.
If you have a dwarf hamster, you could give it a dust bath. Most dwarf hamsters would roll in it and make their fur fluffier and smell better.
You can groom your hamsterâ??s bottom area with a warm, damp tissue. Make sure to dry it immediately after. It is not healthy for your hamster to groom it himself. You should also spot clean their toilet area daily, and wash their cage and change their bedding weekly.
yes you can clean a hamster but dont put it into the bath or anything you have to get a small plastic container and get a little water in it,get a rag with some soap, have a dry towel ready.
STEPS:
1.get the materials shown above and get everything ready like stated above.
2.put the hamster into the container get him wet by hand with the water

Use baby soap preferably Johnson and Johnson, clean it with a soft tooth brush. DO NOT BLOW DRY your hamster, they are prone to hypothermia so just wrap it in a warm towel.
Hamsters lick their paws and fur; they clean themselves.
Dwarf hamsters clean themselves. I own one and watch him clean himself all the time. Dwarf hamsters clean themselves by pulling both paws from the back of their neck forward.
