there is a tool you can buy to screw the caliper piston back in.

you can't do it the old way with a c-clamp because of the parking brake

i found a wrench for removing the nut on a hand grinder, the one with the two posts on it, works really well for the Lincoln LS. maybe not for all cars

You can't compress the piston on your 1992 olds Cutlass S?

AnswerThere is not enough information in your question. A cylinder piston you do not compress, you compress the rings in the piston. There are pistons in the brake system. There is no way of knowing the problem without being more specific.I'm assuming you mean the caliper piston. If it can't be compressed, replace the caliper.

Why does brake caliper still lock up after replacing it?

You've either got a bad Brake hose or bad master cylinder. Both these things can cause a caliper to stick.

How do you change 2002 ford explorer front brakes when piston caliper appears to be frozen?

If you can't compress the piston with a C clamp back in to position to fit the new brake pads I would suggest replacing the caliper completely.

How to compress the front brake cylinder on the caliper on a 1992 olds cierra?

Shade tree mechanics (such as I) use a "C" Clamp to compress it. For lack of a "C" Clamp, a large pair of channel lock pliers will also work.

How do you compress the rear calipers on a 1999 infiniti g20?

You need a caliper tool and a ratchet. Caliper tool is a cube with prongs on it, a couple dollars at a parts store or online. Just turn the caliper tool and on the caliper and it will compress.

How do you change the front brake pads on a 1985 Pontiac Firebird including releasing the pressure of the caliper?

I don't know exactly how to do it on that particular car without looking at it, but in general disc brakes are all pretty much the same. Just remove the two bolts holding the calipar to steering nuckle, its probably an Alan in that car. take the caliper off, it may be tight. Use a C-clamp and one of the old pads and compress the cylinder of the caliper all the way back. It should be tight, but not really tight. If you have a lot of trouble getting it to compress, then the caliper is no good. lube all the slides for the bolts, I think there are 2 little cylinders that go around the two main bolts. clean them and lube them before putting the caliper back on. replace the brake pads and put the caliper back on and put the bolts back and tighten. When you compress the cylinder in the caliper, brake fluid may start coming out of the master cylinder. Don't worry, your just pushing all the fluid back up, and if there is too much in there, it comes out the top of the master cylinder, but this doesn't hurt anything.

How do you change the front brake pads on a 2001 sport trac?

just remove tire, remove caliper top screw turn the caliper back and remove pads. to install new pads you need to compress caliper cylinder back ,I usually use a big plier to press the cylinder back, you has to open the brake liquid reservoir to release pressure, after that you can put new pads .
