You connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi connection whenever you play an online-compatible Nintendo Wii or DS game. Nintendo Wi-Fi connection isn't an actual front end service as Xbox Live or PlayStation Network is, It simply provides the use of Friend Codes, leaderboards, and other related things to the DS and Wii, however Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection's features are specific to the video games that use it.

∙ 11y agoWithin the Settings, or even main menu of a Game that has Wi-Fi connectivity, there should be an option that reads something along the lines of "Connections", "Wi-Fi Connectivity" or something similar.
Selecting that screen will allow you to edit you Wi-Fi connections. You are allowed 3 connections to be saved on your handheld.
For a new connection, select any slot, as they are all empty, and it will prompt a search for nearby Wi-Fi connections. If the connection is password secured, you will be required to input the password before successfully connecting.
After connecting, Wi-Fi for that particular game should be functional.

No it can not. The Nintendo wifi usb adapter sends a signal that only Nintendo products meant to connect to wifi (such as the DS and the Wii) can pick up. Xbox and other products of that nature can not pick up on the wireless signal sent out by the usb adapter.
