As you venture farther and farther into the world of cloud computing, two terms that you will no doubt see over and over again are “server” and “node.” Both pieces of equipment play very different but very important roles in any cloud-based deployment.

In layman’s terminology, the “node” is a connection point. It is the point in a network connection where various lines intersect with one another. The node usually takes the form of a device like a modem, router or some other type of network interface controller device. Nodes can also be things like hubs, network switches and even bridges depending on the setup. The server is the device that is used to operate the cloud-based deployment. A server can be a single computer, a type of network appliance or even a very specific type of operating system depending on the setup in question.

The server and the node in the world of cloud computing are traditionally connected to one another via a single device. Both the server device and the node device would be connected to one another by way of the local area network ports on an internet router, for example. That specific type of connection would also have the benefit of giving both devices access to the Internet in addition to the regular cloud-based system.

It is important to note that in any cloud computing setup, both the node and the server will be equally vulnerable to the same types of cyber-attacks as they would be in any other setup. Both the node and the server are also susceptible to things like operational user error and hardware failure. If the node device in your cloud computing setup ceases to function, for example, you will likely lose access to the entire cloud connection for the duration of time that the device is down.

Comparison Grid computing cloud computing and cluster Computing?

well the main difference is that in a parallel system there is multiple computing units (cpu) working in one node(they share memory ,attached devices , storage...) to accomplish a computing goal in a clustered there is multiple nodes each has its own resources running its own copy of os (usually connected via lan) to accomplish a computing goal

Which node is used for network monitoring?

Your network monitoring system will either run in the cloud on a provider's servers, or will be installed within your network. Depending on the monitoring solution, it can be installed on a server or desktop, VM or not, and may require agents to be installed on the devices you want to monitor. In general, a proper monitoring system will have its own dedicated server to run on.

Difference between peer to peer and client server?

In a peer to peer network, all nodes are the same. In a client-server network, conversely, the server node maintains control over other nodes.
