To treat a dry scalp, the cause of much of the flaky, snowy dandruff, massage some pure virgin olive oil into the scalp and then brush vigorously with a natural bristle hairbrush to help loosen dandruff scales. Microwave the oil until its warm to the touch and apply about twice a week. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and wash it out with a good shampoo.

Another treatment is to regularly rinse the scalp with apple cider vinegar. Vinegar restores the scalp to a healthy state and is effective at cleansing off toxins from the environment that may contribute to dandruff.

There are many basic remedies that you can take to keep your hair dandruff free. A warm coconut oil head massage can do wonders. Apart from making your hair lustrous and shiny, the optimized oil levels keep the scalp nourished while the vigorous massage aids better blood circulation, exfoliates the scalp of dead skin build up.

A teaspoon of fresh lime juice in the last hair rinse combined with a light weight conditioner can also be effective to treat dandruff. Furthermore, this adds much needed luster to the hair as well.

In addition, an individual needs to keep off from strong teas or coffee, pickles, as well as refined and processed foods.

Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner at least 3 times a week.

Do not scratch your head when it is itchy because the skin cells on your head break off in little tiny flakes.

It really depends on how bad it is. If it is mild a simple tea tree shampoo and conditioner will help. like the Paul Mitchell kind. However if its bad, you might need a shampoo specifically for dandruff, there is a product called medi-dan that works really well but smells horrible.

The cause of dandruff is fungus, a bacteria that you have to treat. It is not contagious, and can be effectively treated by some topical solutions, like Luxiq, and shampoos like Loprox.

You can try some of the shampoo's at your local store or consult a doctor for a prescription shampoo.

Whenever you are using anything to put into your hair, make sure you use you fingertips and not your nails. I know it is very tempting but bleeding is very common. In fact it is almost impossible that it won't bleed if you use your fingernails. It will increase the damage.

And no matter what, NEVER EVER EVER pick at it hoping it will go away. That is about the worst thing you can do. Rub your fingertips against it if it itches.

Here's a dandruff solution my husband discovered that's very effective. He uses a cleansing brush from Super Scalp that works better than any anti-dandruff shampoo. He uses it daily in the shower with his regular shampoo and it eliminates all of the oils and flakes that cause dandruff. This is a great product.

Head & Shoulders shampoo didn't work for me.

I have had dandruff problems and have used many dandruff shampoos my whole life. Having to alternate each day with a different one.

After 35 some years, I've finally found the solution:

Use Dr Bronner's eucalyptus liquid soap (or peppermint). It's available at most health food stores or at www.drbronner.com

It is an ALL NATURAL product having no harsh chemicals.

I've been using it daily for the past 6 months and NO DANDRUFF. My wife also likes the scent. Also a plus is that it also doesn't burn your eyes nor turn them red.

The big companies won't like me saying it but throw away all other shampoos. This stuff is for real !!!

Get a quality dandruff shampoo. For hair loss (if it's male pattern baldness) Minoxidil lotion, often combined with Finasteride pills have proven effective. But you should first of all consult a doctor to see what exactly is causing the hair loss.

Dandruff can be controlled by applying lemon juice with cotton to your skull. Curd or milk can also remove dandruff. During winters, dandruff is common so, apply any oil on your hairs before washing your hairs.

Hairfall can be fix by-

1- Using Essential Oils but dilute them with castor oil to lower their concentration

2- Prepare homemade shampoo and conditioner

3- Get nutrition from plants and herbs

Can dogs have dandruff?

The puppy will scratch itself more often, just as humans do when they get dandruff. They might bite or scratch at their hair until some starts to fall out, and possibly lead to a bald spot, but other than that, there isn't much else that happens when a puppy gets dandruff. I recommend getting Puppy Dandruff Shampoo to help with the dandruff problem.

How does dandruff help your hair?

The dandruff and oil actually help our hair by protecting it from bacteria and chemicals. When we wash our hair everyday, it kills the dandruff and washes away the oil. Leaving our hair vulnerable. So you should wash your hair once a week. So your hair can be healthy.

Does the hair on the head of people with dandruff grow slower than the hair of people without dandruff?

Dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) is a completely separate condition to hair loss. (Hair grows out from follicles "beneath" the scalp surface.) Cell loss due to dandruff can actually increase the rate of scalp cell growth, but not hair growth.

Does washing your hair to much cause dandruff?

Nope. The opposite is true, Washing your hair will get rid of the dandruff while not washing it will cause irritation and give you dandruff. However if you dont wash your hair for like months then the natural oils in your hair will go to a balanced state and you wont have dandruff and your hair will go really nice. But to achieve this takes months of uncomfortable dandruff hair. To avoid dandruff wash it about every three days. If you wash it too often then the shampoo will strip your hair of the natural oils so dont wash it everyday.
