How do you convince your parents to let you have a second ear piercing at the age of 12?

You must be a male. Its definetely a generation gap. A father will never understand why a young man would want to wear an earring although I don't feel it's all that bad (if it's a small one.) It's just a fad. Actually, the Italians have used this fashion for many years and even have the female baby's ears pierced with very dainty earrings. Your situation reminds me of a cute story. My husband and I have a friend whose 16 year old son came up to him and asked if he could have his ear pierced. Our friend looked at his son and said, "Kyle, do you see a pirate ship sitting out in our front yard?" Of course his son looked as his dad as if he'd lost every brain cell in his head and said "Nope!" His father looked up from his paper and said, "Kyle, go sit out on the front porch and when you see a pirate ship with a pirate swinging onto our front lawn that's when you'll get your earring!" LOL I suggest you talk to your mom. Moms have a way of twisting things out of dear old dad. Try to find TV anchormen on TV, or other adults that wear one small earring in their ear and show your dad. Let him know you're just getting a small one, that it's the fashion and he may relent. I live in Canada and actually there are few guys that bother to wear earrings anymore and it appears tattoos are the in thing here (usually for most young people it's a very small tattoo.) Marcy

well tell them its not bad or perswade them in courage your answer well if your parents won't let you or your school says no i would wait till later or ask them fo birthdays or Christmas!

you convince them by saying that you will raise your grades or be extra good? if you are good in both then tell them that you are really good so you deserve a reward. Thanks, Kiana

A lot of times, parents cannot be convinced. When they say no, they mean it. You can always offer something to sweeten the deal a little bit for them, for example : if you get good grades, maybe they'll reward you with another piercing. If you do your chores consistently, maybe they'll reward you with your piercing. You see? You have to give something to get something. If they still insist that you cannot get the piercing, then drop the subject. The last thing you want to do is upset your parents over a piercing. do a few things to proove to them that your responisible enough to have them!
