How do you convince your parents to let you watch r rated movies?

I'm thirteen and my mom still won't let me see any pg-13 movies. All of my friends can see them so I feel really left out. Try telling your mom how you feel about her not letting you see movies. I explained to her that other parents let their kids see movies and say, "I'll let you see this movie because i trust that you are mature enough to handle the content of it." I told her that it made me feel like she didn't trust me or was questioning my maturity when she wouldn't let me see anything. Tell her that you understand that some movies aren't meant for people of your age, but you feel mature enough to see this one. Personally, I'm too embarrassed to discuss me understanding sex, so I just tell her that I have been taught about things in school that are mature and think I can handle what's in the movie. Explain to her that you want to be a mature individual. Your mom probably wants to protect you from things she feels that you shouldn't see or hear. If it is a book that was turned into a movie then explain to her that you have already read the book, what could you possibly see that you haven't already read? Also, in a mature and respectful manner explain to her that smothering you with too many rules will cause you to rebel one day and you don't want to do anything that she wouldn't agree with. Tell her that you understand her apprehension to you not watching PG-13 movies, but that you feel that you are mature enough to handle the situations that those movies will introduce. It is all about maturity. Don't throw a fit. Shock her with your maturity! Good luck!
