Yes you can, but it depends on how you leave. If you decide to be an active member and then abruptly decide to leave, your actions will be frowned upon. However, if you show less interest in doing fraternity activities, and refrain from being active, your departure will be welcomed.

But be advised that there are several fraternities who take different approaches towards resignation from fraternities.

One would need to display a lack of effort in fraternity activities. If one do not show enough effort in an executive board position (i.e. philanthropy chair) one should be immediately ousted from the fraternity. Brothers should not treat other brothers/the house with disrespect. Violation of this should result in an expulsion from the fraternity.

yes you can my sister was kicked out from hers. Yes, you can be expelled from a sorority. Usually it is on moral grounds or for lack of grades. Moral grounds include promiscuity, alcohol abuse, drugs, or behavior which doesn't meet the standards set by the chapter or National office. If you are failing college, the sorority will expel you. It is called 'pulling your pin'.
