Remove the caliper from the hub and with either pipe grips or a 12mm spanner on one of the four lobes turn clockwise to screw in, it will only do maybe 1 revolution then tap with a light hammer and do again. This takes ages but stick at it. Strangely both sides are Right Hand threads and you need gap of 40mm from piston to clamp to clear new pads, this was on Megane CC 2006. Andrew H
Yes, you need to remove the caliper first, then use the old brake pad and a C clamp to push down the piston of the caliper.
Turn the piston clockwise and it scews itself in...
Use a large C- clamp to depress the piston enough to remove the caliper.
The rear piston has to be turned in, it won't just push in, they make a tool at the parts store that makes it easier, if you have tried turning it in and it won't go you will have to replace the caliper as it's bad.
Use a C clamp that carpenters use to hold pieces of wood together. Put the solid part of the clamp on the back of the caliper and the screw part inside the piston and tighten the piston back into the bore.
The teves caliper is a single piston disc brake caliper and the akebono caliper is a dual piston disc brake caliper. The teves caliper is a single piston disc brake caliper and the akebono caliper is a dual piston disc brake caliper.
screw it in turn the piston clockwise and screw it in , only for rear brakes
On some vehicles there is a special tool required. The piston is pressed and turned at the same time. Of course you must remove the master cylinder cap, in order to be able to push it back on any car. If it has a criss cross patteren on the face of the piston, then you need this tool. Some Suto Parts stores will lend you the tool, if you buy the parts from them.
You have to use a special tool to turn the piston in clockwise. The tool has two pins which match the two recess holes on the piston. Since the caliper is also the emergency brake you cannot just c clamp the piston back into the caliper bore. you should be able to rent the tool at your local autozone or autoparts store.
Buy or rent the tool that is required to screw the piston into the caliper. Germanautoparts.com sells them. FLAPS (checker, schucks, kragen) may have them to rent.
A c-clamp will work just fine. If it takes a lot of pressure to retract the piston the caliper may need replacement or rebuilding.
did you try turning it backwards or left handed. I had a Nissan Maxima and the pistons were left handed
