When vacuming pool set at waste or backwash?

If the pool is really dirty then it is best to set the filter to waste.

Waste setting on pool filter?

The "Rinse" will also take water out, but you should really have a waste setting. Call a local pool company or the maker of your filter system.

I just moved into a hose that was empty for 2 yrs pool was a green mosquito haven now just cloudy blue was advised to vacuum the deep end pump to waste but unsure how to do that HELP please?

Sand and DE filter have a multi-port valve that has setting labeled backwash, filter, recirculate and waste. by turning the handle to the the waste setting and vacuuming the pool you will flush the water out the waste line and not through the filter and back to the pool. Cartridge filters do not have these valves, you clean it by taking the cartridge out and hosing it off. you will not be able to vacuum to waste without adding a valve and a dedicated waste line. I have known pool owners to take the lid off the cartridge filter and vacuum letting the water overflow the top; not recommended, it will create bigger mess, and possibly ruin your pump motor. Try shocking pool with strong shock, using a clarifier and running pool 24/7 while cleaning the filter at least one or twice a day. The more you filter and clean it the faster it clears up.

Where is filter position on filter valve?

Usually in line with the return line to the pool. Hatawa

Why do you have water coming out of your waste port when pool is on filter?

spider gasket is bad

When do you vacuum to waste a pool sand filter?

You vacuum waste from a pool with a pool vacuum connected to a pole to push it around the vacuuming devise is plugged into the suction of the pump. If you wish to vacuum to waste on the other hand you will first have to turn of the pump then turn the lever on the top of the filter to waste. This will dump the water, so don't vac to waste any more then you have too.

What should you do if after vacuuming your pool the hayward filter will come on but won't circulate backwash or do anything?

Check to see if your water level is below the skimmer line after vaccuming. Without water you can burn the motor up. Can you turn the filter to waste? jsboyles@shentel.net

What is another word for rinse on pool pump?

There is no "Rinse" associated with a pool pump. However it is associated with a "Multiport", a circular valve operated like a rotating lever on a Swimming Pool Filter.A Multiport has 6 positions.Filter The water passes through the filter media ( Sand or DE Plates), which remove dirt, and the water contiues on to the poolBackwash * The water passes from the pump, reverse route through the filter media and flushes the dirt ( and DE where applicable ) out the waste ( backwash) lineRinse * The water passes through the Filter as in "Filter", but goes out the waste line. This is the position to use after "Backwashing" the Filter. The purpose of Rinse is to (Sand Filters:- Pack down the sand and evacuate any of the 1/2 backwashed dirt out the waste, and not into the pool); (DE Filters, same effect, and also any DE that is in the multiport from BAckwashing, gets flushed out the waste line.Waste * Water leaves pool goes straight out the waste line, bypassing filterRe-Circulate Water goes straight back to the pool, bypassing the Filter. It is actually possible to remove the Filter from the multiport while in "Re-Circulate", as the Filter is basically not in useClosed Water cannot pass through the MultiportAll positions marked * remove water from the pool. Ensure that sufficient water remains in the pool that the skimmer(s) can still operate.ALWAYS TURN CIRCULATION PUMP OFF BEFORE OPERATING MULTIPORT. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN UNSEAT THE MULTIPORT GASKET WHICH CAN CAUSE LEAKS AND OTHER UNINTENDED NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES.Greg M Simmons C.P.O.gregs.cpo@gmail.comTo specifically answer your question :Rinse could be called Flush !

Proper water height for above ground pool?

about an inch below the TOP of the filter...there should be a line on your filter...

What setting do you turn a hayward sand filer series 200 too when vacuuming?

You have two options when vacuuming a pool. If it a normal weekly vacuume you will set your filter valve to the filter position. This will send the water through the filter and back to the pool. Once your done vacuuming, you then backwash and rinse the filter. A good ratio is 3 min to back wash and 30 seconds to rinse. If your pool is extremely dirty like at the begining of the year, You can sometimes set the filter to the waste position. This will bypass the filter and send the water down the backwash line. This lowers the water in the pool. If your pool is extremely dirty and you try to vacuum with it set to filter, the filter will not catch all the dirt and some will end up back in the pool in the form of dirty or cloudy water. As a pool profesional I always strived for clear water first. You can't clean what you can't see.

How do you get the film up off the bottom of the pool?

If there is a film laying on the bottom of the pool it is most likely that the pool has clarifier or floculant put in it. If so let the pool settle for a day or two until all of the clarifier and contaminant has settled to the bottom then turn the filter to waste and gently vacuum the cloudy material on the bottom of the pool to waste do not put floculant through the filtration vac it to waste.

When filter turns on-green water and DE shoots in-above ground pool?

There may be a part broken inside the filter allowing waste to bypass and circulate back into the pool. You should clean the filter then inspect for cracks, rips or other damage.
