You have two choices fix the alarm by installing a new tumbler, or disable your alarm. Either way you'll need to remove the drivers door handle.
Open the door, undo the torx screw just above the lock, turn key clockwise and hold, then pull gently out and back. Handle will release 80% of the way, now slide the latch that is attached to the handle release to the right. The door handle should now be out. Take out the pin which compresses the spring? (It may have removed itself, and fallen into the door, leave it there, you don't need it anymore).
Stick a small screw driver into the slot you see and turn it counter clockwise 1/4 turn to turn off the alarm. If you remove the battery, or boost it, you'll need to do this every time.
Or you can fix it once and be done...
Buy the new tumbler kit (they are built stronger than the originals, and have the parts you lost)! Not expensive. Then one screw at the base of the tumbler removes the lock mechanism, remove it with the key inserted, note the way that the spring is assembled. Replace each brass piece with your old ones in the order that they came out (to make your old key will work in the new lock), careful not to lose any little springs as you pull each one out. Assemble the handle, and lock the big spring in with the new hook pin at the end. Insert the handle into the door by hooking the release onto the latch on the handle. Turn the key to the right to insert handle all the way. Replace the screw. Test the lock with the door open (you need to close the door latch with a screwdriver, to simulate a closed door).
i don't know ANYTHING about cars, but i read in another bulliten that there is a red wire that runs to the battery (completely visable) and all you have to do is unscrew the bolt and unhook the skinny red wire.
i wouldn't take this as the best advice but, its all i know
When I accidently set of the alarm on my 97 Jetta, I had to lock and then unlock the drivers side door(passenger side works too). This shuts off the alarm.
pull the fuse for the alarm with is shown on your manual book under fuses
Impossible, seeing as there is no such thing as an '04 VW Cabrio. They stopped making them in 2002.
disconnect the batt... for 5 to 10 min to reset
An alarm remote is a remote control for an alarm system. A remote alarm is an alarm that rings somewhere far away from whatever set off the alarm.
No I have a 2001 vw jetta and the remote will not start the car. You can buy a customized alarm system that will allow you to remotely start the car. A Vw does have remote door unlock and lock
if you did disconnect the alarm, it wouldn't let you start the car because of the immboliser
Take the remote control and insert it in the slot under the steering coulmn . Wait for the alarm sound (deactivates the alarm) and then start the car. The alarm is now deactivated. You need to reactivate the alarm in the same way to have the alarm functional again.
You can set your alarm to your car using the remote control exclusively for cars.
-I was to;d that only the dealer can do it.They need to send to Germany for a new code and then they reprogram the remote.
If you are the owner you should know that if I tell you how, everybody will be able to disconnect the alarm of a z3 and your car will be vulnerable. So use the remote with the white buton.
You would disconnect the battery terminals.
You put the buckle in the clasp. Where your seat belt you paid for it and it will save your life. or u can do this: under the seat their is a cable connected it ends are purple on it disconnect them that should do it as i have jetta a vw jetta
No but it can work with the remote or engine lock.
The remote control alarm system can be reset by entering the four digit pin number. Once the pin number is entered the alarm system will be reset.
