You can find lyrics from the 1930s in sheet music in the music library of a public library or university. You can also hear them in plays and films from the 1930s.

Don't forget extensive reference materials--encyclopedias, unabridged dictionaries, etc. Also libraries can have cultural events happening--puppet shows, storytelling, plays--art on display, and professionals who can help you locate information. My library also has summer reading programs which encourage kids to keep reading during the summer.
