There are two ways. If your replacing it with a new one with no regard to the old, put on hand on the idle pully {usually located under the alternator} and cut the thing. If your replacing something and need the old one, use your left hand and press down on the idle pully as hard as you can to loosen the belt system. With your right, grab the belt somewhere else along the path, and pull/pry it off. {I have used a breaker bar to put tension on my idle pully, but dont recommend it for a 1st time}. Erik

Take off the belts then the hoses then the belts holding it on.
Could be your belts? Or your pulleys.. Hopefully its one of your belts cuz pulleys are quite pricey

TWO! The narrow one is for the air conditioner and the wide one is for the fan, steering fluid pump and alternator.
You do not have to re-time your belts to replace the starter.
