  • Press the Alt key (to the left of the spacebar- not to the right) and while it is pressed press NumPad keys to get special characters such as:
  • ° (Alt + 2 4 8 )
  • --- (Alt + 0 1 5 1 ) // actually this should have been an "m dash" but WikiAnswers interface corrupts the character! //
  • ÷ (Alt + 2 4 6 )
  • ¶ ( Alt + 2 4 4 )
  • ž (Alt + 0 1 5 7 )

You should see a button that says "Shift" somewhere on your keyboard. Hold down the Shift key with one finger and press the symbol you want with another one. For example, if you want to make the dollar sign ($) then hold down the shift key and the number 4.

Or:

☀☃ ☑ツ ♥ ♫ → ☻ ↓ ¿ ♠ ☼ ♣ ♪ ♦ ۞ ツ♀ ◊ ▲ ▼ ► ◄ ○ ○ □ ☼ ☺ ♠ ← → ↔ ↨ ™ ℓ € ♥ ♪ ♦ © ® Ø

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

here's a better answer.

make sure your num lock is on.

hold down alt and press a number on the num lock side thingy that has the numnbers like a phone.

hold the two keys down,then release them both at the same time.

here is the list.

1+alt=☺

2+alt=☻

3+alt=♥

you get it so im just putting numbers now

4=♦

5= ♣

6=♠

7=•

8=◘

9=○

and so on. i think they end at like 35 or 39

hope it helped

On a laptop:by holding down the Fn key + the Alt key with any number of choice u can insert various symbols

"example": hold down Fn + Alt, then press L = ♥

hold down Fn + Alt, then press 1 = ☺

hold down Fn + Alt, then press 14 = ♫

Edited By: Sweetcute10

You can:

hold down Fn + Alt, then press any letters.

I tried all of these symbols,but it never works with numbers,so I tried the letters and it worked! This is what I learned how to do:

♥

☻

☺

§

♀

♪

â–¼

♣

â™

and some people just don't get the point about having a LAPTOP. A LAPTOP DOESN'T HAVE THE STUPID NUMBER PAD AND KEY OR WHATEVER! geez.

Assuming that you're trying to make emoticons on Word...

:) is a happy face

:| is a straight face

:( is a sad face

There are a lot more emoticons used over the internet but only these three work with Word.
