Don't bother with the drain plug. Even if you can find it, once you open it, they tend to leak when you close them. Instead, remove the lower radiator hose. It's messier, but quick. GM no longer installs drain valves in late model cars due to the problems with them not sealing again. Oh, and they can't afford the 0.32 for the valve anymore.
any vehicle that is water cooled and has a radiator needs antifreeze.
Underneath near radiator. There is a nipple with a black plastic cover. I recommend accessing this from under the vehicle if hot. The exhaust manifold could cause burns if accessed from above.
Once your vehicle is warmed up, if you have antifreeze coming out of the overflow you have too much in your radiator.

only way to change lower radiator hose is to get underneath the vehicle there is a fawcet on bottom of radiator to dump coolant, then remove hose from underneath vehicle
Antifreeze is green in color and is leaking from your radiator .
antifreeze does two things. It keeps the water in the radiator from freezing in the winter, and helps prevent if from boiling over and evaporating in the summer. You can run your vehicle with water alone in moderate temperatures and it will do the job. But, if you mean by "running out of antifreeze" you mean there is no liquid in the radiator, then yes, your vehicle can overheat and ruin the engine.
Get underneath your vehicle and look for a wing nut valve on the buttom or side of the radiator, and loosen it.
depends on the type of vehicle
Raise the froth of your car. Drain the radiator. Remove the heater tube from firewall and loosen the hose clamps. Lower the vehicle after draining the antifreeze. Locate the heater core and remove the mounting clamps. Remove the heater core and replace it.
Bring your vehicle to a garage is what I would do so you can let it thaw and refill it with antifreeze because there must be water in the radiator
Coolant will expand as it heats - that's the purpose of the coolant recovery tank - to take excess when vehicle is hot and return it to the radiator when vehicle cools
