It depends on which engine you have in it. Most engines have a drain plug for the oil on the lowest part of the engine near the rear on the right side as you are sitting on the mower. You will need something to catch the oil like a drain pan or a cut off jug. Loosen the plug and let all the old oil drain out. Once it quits draining then put the plug back in and fill it with fresh oil by way of the filler tube which is usually just above that drain at the top of the engine. Fill it with oil until the oil reads at the full line on the dipstick. Normally a little over a quart.
The most common way to do it these days is to get a pan to catch the old oil, remove the dipstick and use the dipstick tube as a spout into the pan.
Remove the oil drain plug from the oil pan to drain the oil from the motor. Some oil will remain in the old oil filter however.

It is also best to replace the oil filter at this time. 2. Replace the drain plug after all the old oil has drained out. 3. Remove the dipstick. Refill new oil, the manufators recommended grade oil is best. 4. Start the engine and let it run about 30 minutes. 5. Stop the engine and wait about a minute, then check the oil level. Add more oil if the dipstick shows that more is needed.
