To drain the trans fluid on the Crown Vic you have to carefully lower the pan one side at a time slowly and drain the fluid. Clean the pan and wipe the metal from the magnet (remember to put the magnet back !) Take off the filter, wipe the fluid from the gasket ( The Ford gasket is ridged and is reusable) , Wipe the mounting surface, replace the pan and tighten bolts by hand making sure not to over torque or you will stip the threads in the housing.....On the Bell Housing on the front of the trans. is a rubber plug. Remove the plug and you will seee the TC and Flywheel.. I use a big flat tip screwdriver to turn the flywheel until the screw is visible. Remove the screw and the fluid will drain from the TC...When finished, replace the screw and plug....Take the dipstick out and insert a funnel and add 4 QTs. of fluid, start engine and add 1 QT. at a time. At 10 QTS. check fluid. The complete fill might take up to 12 Qts. ...MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE LEVEL...and don't forget to replace the Dipstick when finished.
It is important to replace old transmission fluid with the right amount of new transmission fluid. The 2005 Ford Crown Victoria has a transmission fluid capacity of 5 quarts.
