yes you can eat shellfish even though it is full of bacteria and other unknown species it is still safe to eat them because when they get sent to stores the people clean them real nice and goo before they sell them to people so i think that it is very well safe to eat shellfish
Keep it alive in the refrigerator and then fry it in a pan in some butter with Old Bay on it. It helps to put something to help it fry evenly on it such as cornmeal or a breading/batter before adding the seasoning. Then you can either put it on a sandwich(my favorite) or just eat it plain.
It is also good to fry in fatback instead of butter. YUM!
I live in MD on the bay so I eat a lot of soft-crabs.
I bought 2 lobster tails came in one package. I lobster shell is soft. and one is hard. If it is soft does it mean its bad?
Yes and it is delicious.
A soft shell crab, often referred to as a softie, is a recently molted crab. Usually it's a Blue crab that is served as a soft shell dish. The crab will shed it's old shell when it has grown out of it. The new shell will be soft but only for a couple of days.
Soft shell crabs are soft and are eaten with the entire crab. Soft shell crabs are actually hard shell crabs that have shed their shells to allow for growth. Shells do not grow with the crab. Crabs retain a soft shell when they shed their hard shells; then that soft shells begins to harden-up as the crab grows.
A hermit crab.
I think that the larger fish eat the crabs when are out looking for a shell ,shell-less. But also it is possible to have a smaller fish eat a crab shell-less depending on the size of the crab.
Scallops.
You can feed a hermit crab soft fruits and veggies
An octopus can eat crab. Here's how it works- First the octopus grabs the crab, then squeezes the crab tightly with its tentacles. the crab's shell will brake and the octopus will eat the insides. -lu
Most crabs use their hard shell which is good for animals smaller than them that eat them. But I don't think the shell can protect them from a whale (whales don't eat crabs but thy might accidentally swallow one) or a shark.
He ordered "hard shell crab dinners" which isn't something you would EVER order in Baltimore - and it certainly isn't something you'd wear a jacket and tie for. This was shot in Long Beach, CA at Khoury's Restaurant.
primarily for the protection of the crab, and as a defence to predators. however, if the crab has moulted recently, the new shell will be very soft, placing the crab in a highly vulnerable situation.
It curls up in its shell. The animals cant eat the shell and are to stupid to crush it thus he hermit crab is safe.
Just like the blue crab it's the same color, but it's in it's multing phase
