WHEN I REMOVE THEM IN MY CAR, ITS TWO SCREWS. ONE ON EACH SIDE L & R, THEN LIFT SEAT ON A 90 DEGREE ANGLE. Hey there....not sure about the windshield wipers, but the SRS light sounds like a possible front passengers seat recognition sensor? This would also cause the passengers airbag off light to illuminate intermittantly, when someone sits in the passengers seat. I would recommend taking the ML to your local dealer so they can pull codes for the airbag control module, and tell you exactlly what the fault it. Could be a lot of differant items.

if the airbag warning light comes on it means most likely that your airbag system is faulty, it should be taken to a professional to be sorted out but often on mondeos it can be a yellow plug under the seat that needs removing being wiped/cleaned and plugged back in which can solve the problem, try this on both drivers seat and passengers seat, if it doesnt work take it to a dealer.

I've got a feeling it shuts off automatically when there's a certain weight in the passengers seat and the seatbelt is done up. When this happens the airbag warning light on the dashboard (not the instruments) stays on. I think the manual explains more.
