On the 24 August 79 CE the volcano, Mount Vesuviusburied the town of Pompeii in ash and pumice and the hot gases suffocated any people or animals that remained in the area. Although there was an eruption, a lot of the buildings and art work survived.Unfortunately, Mount Vesuvius' eruption disrupted the buildings so a lot of the buildings wherevulnerabletocollapse. Also, weathering, erosion and light damage all had their affects on the buildings.
