A baby gerbil, or gerbil pup, relies on its mother's milk until they are four weeks of age. If your gerbil still needs its mother's milk, but cannot get it, feed it kitten replacement milk through an eyedropper three times daily.

If the gerbil pup is weaned, then a good starter food is Cheerios. These are the perfect size for tiny gerbil hands and are healthy for them, too! However, a gerbil pup should start eating the same food its parents do as it is weaned.

Mixed seeded diets and gerbil pellets should be the main part of your gerbil's diet. fresh fruits and vegetables (in moderation) are good for your gerbil. nuts and seeds can be used for treats, (my gerbil LOVES peanuts) and whole wheat bread is good for them sometimes. A special treat i do sometimes, is take a small pinecone, slather it in unsalted peanut butter, and roll it in birdseed or normal gerbil seeded diet. do not do it too often because it is not super healthy for them, but they do like it. Berries are good for a gerbil who doesn't drink much, because berries contain a high amount of water, and it is good for them to drink because they have more energy. This is not a great list, but if you Google your question you my have an entire list of gerbil foods.

Most gerbils will eat store bought food for gerbils. Being the gerbils are wild they will eat most raw fruits and veggies in small portions as well as unsalted/sweetened bread (cereral, bread) also plain cooled down cooked egg (DONT cook with butter) Hard boil. Also raisins and nuts.

You can hand feed them so they get used to who is giving them food or just put some gerbil food around the cage but make sure you give them fresh food everyday and fresh water everyday, or just put some in the food bowl and the gerbils on its own will go up and eat something.

You don't. They will nurse off their mother until they are old and big enough to eat solid foods, like human beings
