very simple there is a plug on the side of the rear end that takes a 3/8 rachet just loosen that plug and remove.
Full it until it starts drizzling out of the fill hole on the transfer case.
Fill it at the same place you check the fluid level.
Remove rear axle cover, oil will drain out, reseal and install cover, fill fluid.Remove rear axle cover, oil will drain out, reseal and install cover, fill fluid.
The rear axle fill plug is the rubber plug in the rear differential cover. Fill the fluid to the bottom of the hole. 75w90 or 80w90, if posi it requires a limited slip additive.
The rear drive axle takes 5.5 (pts.) to fill.
Yes
To change the rear axle fluid you can remove the rear cover from the axle and drain it that way. If you don't want to remove the rear cover you can use a pump and a hose to drain it through the fill hole.
The fill hole is the dipstick hole itself. You usually need a long funnel to get fluid into it, and it's slow to fill because of this.
The fill plug is on the left side of the transfer case. You remove the fill plug, and the fluid should come to the bottom of the fill plug.
Could cause the axle seals or pinion seals to start leaking, just fill the fluid up too the fill plug on the diff and its full. Its pretty hard to over-fill it since it would spill out of the hole as you over fill it
1.25 Gallons = 5 quarts
The front axle seals go bad. There is special "Dealer only" blue transfercase fluid and it is way overpriced at $14 a quart. Anyway, buy that first and get new seals then you'll need to drain diff and replace the seals, then reassemble the axle shafts into the diff and then fill with dealer only xfercase fluid.
