You have to fill it up where the transmission dipstick is. It requires a small funnel. There is no other place to fill the transmission fluid up. The dipstick is to the left side of the motor and down low.

There is no dipstick to check the transmission fluid on a 1998 Cadillac Catera. It can be checked by opening the fill plug on the side of the transmission. If you are at that point you might as well change the fluid if you have over 70000 miles.

There is a fill hole in the side of the transmission towards the middle facing inward. The fluid should be just high enough to not run out of the hole.
