The cause 95% of the time is worn bronze contacts in the starter, itself. Buy a new set from you dealer, open up the starter, pull out the old contacts, and bolt 'er back together. My son and I have done this on 3 or 4 of our various pickups, and it has worked every time.
Your car will not start.
Bad Starter. Bad Starter Relay. Bad Ignition Switch. Bad Ignition Module. Improper Ground.
if your starter is clicking when u turn it over- that's a good sign.
Take out the starter take take off the back lid and you will see the two clips inside that rub against the motor kind of like motor brushes. if they are worn replace them and you will have a new starter. you will hear a clicking noise when they are bad and you will not get your starter to start. Toyota starters do not go bad(quality product). Bedros
Remove it and have it tested at an auto parts store
Could be that the battery is dead or the starter is bad.
Not sure if its the starter or the battery? Check the battery at a store. They can do a check on it for free. If its good then the starter could be bad. Bad starters don't work or they work intermittently. Usually just ehear a click and then when you retry it starts. That's the symptoms. Most places can also check the starter for you.
Bad starter Loose wire connection on starter
If your battery is good but the starter motor just clicks instead of turning over it is bad, OR it turns over weakly or turns over and starts clicking then it is bad. If it turns over strongly and sounds OK then it is OK.
If the starter is bad no. Check battery, starter and solenoid to be sure which is bad.
Either your battery is run down or the starter has gone bad. Try tapping the selinoid (small cylinder)on the side of the starter.
My suggestion is to make sure that you have a good connection between your starter and your battery. Is the starter even functioning? If not, it is probably a bad starter, a bad battery, a bad fusible link for the starter, a blown fuse, or just a bad connection.
