I have no idea how you find out on the internet. Here in NY, a repo man must, by law, immediately stop at a police dept. or sheriff's office and notify them of the repossession. The law enforcement agency then enters the repo. into the computer so it cannot be entered as stolen. I guess what I would recommend is that you contact the local police and tell them the story. Maybe stolen. Maybe repossessed. Let them figure it out. That's why we pay taxes, so they can do that stuff for us.

IF your nae was NOT on the paperwork, you may have a hard time finding out. If it IS, then call the lender and ask about YOUR car. Or call the PD where it was alledgedly stolen.
