I'm weak on motorcycles, but there should be a tag on the frame. Possibly under the seat. Sorry I can't tell you exactly where, but it should be fairly visible for police inspection, can't be hidden to well.
Well, technically your Land Cruiser doesn't have a VIN, because VINs were not really mandated until around 1980. What you have is Toyota's own specific identification code. A real VIN has 17 alpha-numeric characters.
Check the Vin plate on the Drivers's side Door jamb, mine is on there on my 1981 Land Cruiser FJ-60 ( Sep 1980 in my case ) you will find another vin plate under the hood on the driver's side also

The Yamaha Maxim was made in the 80's, after the 17-digit VIN standard went into effect. Under the standard, the year is coded as the 10th digit with A-Y being 1980 - 2000 and 1-8 being 2001 - 2008. A few Maxims may have been produced in 1980 before Yamaha signed on with the standard. If you truly have a 9-digit VIN, I would guess you have a early production, 1980 Maxim.
