Buffy, There is a cover panel on the driver's side of the dashboard. Open the driver's door and it will be immediately to the left of the light switch at the end of the dashboard. It may be a door-type or a pop out panel; in either case, the fuse box is behind it. Open or "pop off" the end panel and you will see the fuse box. Inside, you should also find a small, plastic fuse remover to help in the removal of a bad fuse and installing a new one. Please remember to use a replacement fuse of the same amperage as the one you are removing. If you use a higher amp fuse, you can damage wiring or systems in your car. The amperage is marked on the plastic end of the fuse; and they are also color-coded to help you in matching them. When finished, close the cover panel in the same way you opened it. If yours is the "pop out" type like mine, it may take a little tweaking to get the metal spring retainers back into their proper slots, but just be prepared to make a couple of attempts.
you can always buy more, either from an auto store, but always from the dealer. The cover to the fuse box usually tells you what the fuses are and what amp they are.
ynyqi have the same thing happening to my 2003 passat. did you find any reason why this occurs?

the fuse panel is on the end of drivers side dash. remove the panel, there should be a card inside
i have a 2003 ford focus and want to locate which fuse is for the washer pump
All fuses are under the hood, next to the battery.
where can i find the fuse relay for a/c on my car
On my golf it's behind a panel in the centre consol, right at the bottom You have to give it a damned hard pull
On my 1999 Passat GLS, the fuse panel is on the left side of the dash, facing the driver's door. Use a screw driver at the bottom of the cover panel to pry it off and expose the fuses. The fuse panel cover has a fuse puller and card that diagrams the fuse locations with their purpose.
you should be able to find a diagram in the owners manuel, or on the fuse cover.
Have the same problem - 2000 Passat - they tell me it is the coils are the issue - will find out
