Latitude is simple: replace N with S and vice versa: if something is at latitude 43 degrees north latitude, the antipode (which is the technical term for the "opposite coordinate") will be at latitude 43 degrees south.
Longitude is more complicated. You need to replace E with W and subtract the numerical value (in degrees) from 180 to get the longitude of the antipode.
So the antipode of San Diego (33N 117W or thereabouts) would be 33S 63E, which is in the Indian ocean (the nearest dry land is probably Reunion Island, roughly 700 miles away to the northwest).
The only locations in the US where the antipode is actually dry land (and you could "tunnel through the Earth" and come out somewhere that wasn't underwater) are most of Hawaii (antipodes in Zambia) and a few spots in the extreme north of Alaska (antipodes in Antarctica).

When you draw both lines they cross at the location you are looking for. ======================== By taking a ruler and making one measurement up from the floor and one measurement from the corner of the room, you can come up with two numbers that exactly describe the location of any point on the entire wall. By doing exactly the same thing on the globe, you can come up with two numbers that exactly describe the location of any point on the entire Earth. You just have to know where each measurement starts from. And the rulers are printed right there on the globe for you.
A spherical map of the world or any location is called a globe. all globes are even set at an axis to resemble the earths actual placement in space.
By a W for West
The weatherAdded: And their geographic location on the globe.
The opposite hemisphere is on the other side of the globe. For example, if you are in the Northern Hemisphere, the opposite hemisphere on the other side of the globe is the Southern Hemisphere.
Intersecting lines drawn on a globe are typically latitude and longitude lines. Latitude lines run east-west and measure degrees north or south of the equator. Longitude lines run north-south and measure degrees east or west of the Prime Meridian. Their intersections pinpoint specific locations on Earth and are used for navigation and mapping.
Not if you happen to be in New Zealand or Singapore. Check a globe and you can see where Australia is in relation to your location.
