You should never run your car when it is not warm enough. More than likely you need a transmission fluid change, and the filter as well. Which is quite easy, but I would advise you to never run your car until it is fully warm enough for the car to be driveable.
Usually on the V6 Sonata's they are located under the hood. Look to the right of your engine and look down at the transmission itself. There should be a "spin on" filter, kind of like the one for your engine. if not then your filter is located inside the actual transmission.
5w30, 10w30, for cold weather i.e. Canada 15w40 for warmer climate. I just use 10w30 all year round in all weather condition for my XG300

I was told by numerous mechanics that the transmission has to taken out to change the fluid. I jacked my car up the other day and noticed a bolt near the driver side tire. I think that's where the fluid comes out if you remove it. The filter is located on the top of the transmission and looks like an oil filter. I haven't tried to change the fluid yet, but I think it's worth a shot being as they tell me it costs around 600 dollars to change the fluid. Yikes!!
Remove the oil pan from the transmission, there you will find it.follow the procedure in the workshop manual for oil pan removal and for exact torque values.
