OBDII started in 1996... OBDI was not as standardised PLL.
All vehicles made during and after 1996 use the OBDII standard but there are some proprietary codes for other than emissions systems, check out the site below.
You will need an OBDII scanner to retrieve the codes. WalMart has some for about $70 if you want to buy one. Otherwise, you can go to AutoZone and have it scanned free.
