Clicking the mouse button will fire the cannons aboard your ship (aim with the cursor).
The cannons at the Pirate Outpost are fired with the Cannon Starter Kit (fuses) that is atop the tall mast, near the top and to the left of the Cannonry.

∙ 13y agoAim with the mouse cursor and fire by clicking your mouse button. You must wait to reload after the cannonballs hit or miss. Hitting moving targets, especially while you are sailing yourself, takes practice. You can stop your own motion by dropping the anchor (spacebar) for close fighting.

∙ 12y agoWhile you're sailing on your ship, you can just click to shoot the cannons, assuming it is large enough to have them. When you buy larger ships, they have more cannons as well as more cargo space.
To shoot the cannons on the Pirate Outpost, climb up and get the Cannon Starter Kit (fuses) at the top of the mast (left and up from the Cannonry).
If you push the small barrel of explosives (just below it) down into the water, you can shoot it with the cannon at the lower left.

∙ 11y agofind a ball in the library and roll it by the fire, when it gets really hot use the Poker to roll it to the dumpwaiter. pull the lever,(or what-ever it is) and now it's time to go to the lab. Inside the lab. go all the way to the right and pull the lever and the ball will roll into the lab.
