How do you shift gears on a 2008 Yamaha r15?

Ok .. I own a Yamaha YZF-R15. Shifting gears in Yamaha YZF-R15 is similar to all the Yamaha bikes. For the 1st Gear you need to press down. For the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gears, you need to lift up. Its the traditional race model '1 down - 5 up' approach. Have Fun !

Why won't my Jeep CJ5 go into 3rd gear?

The biggest problems of why a jeep wont go into third gear is either that the shifting fork for third gear is worn or bent or the sycronizer or gear itself is worn out and needs to be replaced. Once you take the top of the transmission off where the shifter is located you can see the whole transmission gears and inspect the shifting forks. A general rule of thumb is to make sure the transmission is in second gear before taking the top off. This will make it easy to take off and rerattach the top of the transmission cover and align the shifting forks.

What causes the gears to go out in a 1990 Toyota pickup 4x4 and what do you look for to fix it?

I'm not sure how your gears are out but, on my truck with a 5spd manual transmission I had a problem where it became progressively more difficult to shift into 4th, then 3rd became a problem. I started dismantling the shifter and there was a plastic bushing at the base of the shift lever that had completely disintegrated. Couple dollars for the part at the dealership and it was shifting good as new.

When do you shift gears on a street bike?

Shifting gears on a street bike depends on two things: your desired speed/mode of travel, and the engine revolutions, in RPM, of your machine. There is a point where the RPM meter shows such a low rev, that shifting gears at this point will stall the engine, stopping the motor. Shifting to first gear, which is the largest and most powerful gear in your engine, should be the easiest, starting off at about 1,500 to 2,500 RPM, while slowly releasing your clutch. Here's where the desired speed/mode of travel comes in: are you revving up for a fast ride, or are you just cruising slowly, taking in the sights? If you're on a race-track, or on a clear, safe, familiar highway, revving to a fast ride will mean accelerating to 8,500 RPM or more, before releasing the accelerator slightly, depressing your clutch lever, shifting to 2nd gear, and releasing clutch while revving up to 8,500 RPM or so, again to shift to 3rd. If you are cruising slowly, changing gears at 2,500 to 3,000 RPM should give you a steady, comfortable cruising shift without stalling your engine. Remember: the higher the gear you are shifting to, the higher your engine revolutions should be.

What does Overdrive do on a Dodge Ram 1500?

Turning off the overdrive is basically preventing the truck from shifting gears past 3rd. It's useful when you're going up or down steep hills. answer Dodge Ram trucks come stock with an overdrive, or O/D, function that enables them to switch between three and four gears. When the overdrive is off, the truck operates on three gears, allowing it to pull more weight and giving it more power. When the overdrive is on, the truck operates on four gears, using less power and less gas.
