that could actually be many things, all for just that gauge. the float in your fuel tank could be stuck, the gauge mechanisms fell apart. there's a number of things. that's one you would have to look into. if you know what you're doing you can pull your dash out and see if the connections to the gauge are solid. just don't try to open the gauge or fix the gauge itself as there are springs in there and just like a watch, the parts inside the gauge have to be assembled at just the right specification in order for it to work properly.
