Run the window completely down. Spray the window seals liberally with silicon spray. Then run the window up and down a few times. (May need to assist by pushing it with your hands to get past the sticking point at first.) Then wipe off excess spray. Do this about every 3-6 months to prevent sticking.
If the door is not closed and the draft is going out the window, then yes. An open window can indeed make a door open.
If you are going for a sliding door, I highly recommend going for a window. And for that matter I prefer the sliding door over the regular door. It provides a much nicer view, and is lovely on a nice summer day.

I would remove the door panel and have a look at what's going on in there the window has obviously popped out of the guide.
Take door panel off... Look inside window panel while going up and down, see what is missing or broken , then replace or fix.

first take of the door panel. Next you will see the window regulator. The there is going to be 4 bolts or so that you are going to need to take off, after that unhook the window. Then pull the whole window regulator out and replace the whole thing

remove your door panel there will be three screws holding it on. then you have to remove the screws holding your window to the regulator. then unbolt regulator and motor from door. Undo wiring going to motor.
It is most likely a disconnected or broken wire in or going to the driver's door.
Cause you can see through a window, but not a door.
If you are able to get the window down, you can put a clamp on the upper edge and it will stick in the door jam keeping it in place, if it is stuck up, then I suggest the more primitive way of careful and liberal placement of duct tape.
