I have just discovered this same problem in my mother's 96 Metro The daytime running lights work ok, but as soon as you put the lights on, the daytime running lights cut out and all you are left with are the parking lights. In addition the brights work when you pull the stick towards you, but will not stay on when you puh the stick forward to leave them on. I removed the whole fuse block from under the dash and discovered one burnt out terminal on the under side. All of the other terminals in the block are nice and clean looking except for this one that is dicolored with burnt plastic around it. My advice would be to replace the fuse block and possibly the connector that plugs into it.

It is true to say that Halo headlights bulbs can be replaced.
If you buy blue xenon bulbs they are easily fittable to headlights on most car designs. Any mechanic should be able to do it or you can also do it yourself. If you take it to a mechanic bring the bulbs with you.
If by "dim headlights" you mean low-beams... the bulbs are bad and must be replaced.
A common reason for dim headlights are failing bulbs that need to be replaced or improper cleaning. It may also be a more serious wiring issue that will need additional work.
WHAT ARE YOU DUMB REPALCE YOUR LIGHT BULBS STUPID! Not stupid replaced circuit boards checked fuses ran test light . When headlights are on no brake light or taillights and have all new bulbs stupid. Turn headlights off brake lights work, so figure that out smart man
First have you replaced the bulbs in it and there not working or do you need to know how to replace them
the rear bulbs are replaced by removing two screws and pulling the assy out then the bulbs twist out, the front twist out of the composite light assy
check the bulbs and the wires
Bad switch? Bad relay/ Breaker tripped?
The bulbs are located for the headlights under the hood of the car.
The fuses are located under the hood beside the battery.
