Yes.
On the inside of the trunk lid there is a little plastic black box that attaches to the release mechanism on the bottom of the trunk lid (where the lid meets the latch). On one side of this black box, there is a cable running out that runs up to the key. On the other side, you can either attach an auto trunk pop solenoid, or a release cable that runs inside your car to a handle. There is a rectangular cover on the black box that you will need to pry up with a screwdriver. Pry this lid open, and you will see a little orange thing in there. Take your cable and place it inside of this orange "hook". The cable has a ball on the end of it, and the ball on the cable needs to sit inside of the orange "hook". Then, make sure the cable is properly seated inside of the little black box, and push the cover closed. Make sure the cover snaps all the way around, or the cable might fall out again.
check out the selinoid on the trunk latch
It's mounted on the Trunk Lid Latch.....
Bad gasket, latch not fully holding trunk closed.

Remove the bulb.
As far as I can see, because I crawled into the trunk to open the trunk so I could repair the mechanism that opens the trunk. No!
inside the trunk is an emergeny pull cord. when u turn the key there is a little piece on that cord that the key pulls on... u can only fix it with the trunk open though. so to open it get the remote or have a second person to open the trunk right after u press the botton. open it while the latch is rewinding
If the spring is still in tack - and by that I mean still hooked at both ends - you need to re-install it in the trunk latch. 1. remove any screws holding the trunk liner on - usually one torx screw in the handle area inside the trunk. 2. pop the liner off - takes some effort so by careful, but forceful. 3. disconnect the trunk latch via two 10mm nuts and disconnect the cables. 4. remove the black plastic cover and electric switch (light grey) 5. re-install the spring and check for function. 6. Installation is the reverse of removal. I don't know on your model where the attachment points are for the spring in the latch. Good Luck
I had the same problem and the issue is in the trunk towards the left side by trunk lid is the wire that supplies the 12 volts to the latch solenoid. When you get the trunk open and you look to the left of the trunk and lid area if the wire assembly looks like it is bent or twisted that is where the problem is. Sometimes the cable may not slide through the plastic guide and gets stuck, when you close the lid the cable gets twisted and eventually breaks. The way it is designed the wire may break off inside the harness. You would have to remove the tape harness to expose the wires. You should be able to see a broken or twisted wire that would need be repaired.NOTE!!! Cable MUST SLIDE FREELY UP AND DOWN IN PLASTIC HARNESS.
take a long thin screwdriver and stick it into the "hole" where the cable goes into the latch. Pry from right to left, this will pop the hood. I just had it happen to my 2000 Dakota.
