The fitted CD player has a CAN-Bus interface built in for remote control and speed volume adjust. If a third party CD/Radio is fitted, these functions are lost, along with the trip computer. It will not damage the trip computer.
Plug it in the computer and hitting F8 key every few seconds as the computer reboots. Click safe mode, then hopefully your computer working fine. Find the my computer (Windows XP) Computer (Windows 7) right click an then click manage. Then go to device manager. Expand Display adapter. then right click the name of the Display Adapter and Uninstall and Fix the Resolution and reboot it. if it install goto the manage and device manager and Expand the display adapter and Disable the file under it
Not sure what you mean by 'fix', but to reset to '0' push the buttton until the trip odometer dislayys and push once again to and it will (should) show 0.0. A sure way to tell is that the main odometer does not display tenths of a mile, only whole numbers, and trip, resettable does.. will show 1234.5 for example

Scan it for codes, fix what they relate to and light will go out once the computer stops seeing problems in the car's systems.

You start by doing diagnosis and determining the cause of the problem. In the case of the trip computer, you'd probably need the actual Ford software and interface (not an OBD scanner).
P0700 just reads as code present in the transmission computer. You need to have the transmission computer checked for codes to know possible causes.
