It needs to be checked out to see what is wrong,

You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.

If the fan clutch goes bad then your cooling fan attached to the motor spins freely and will not cool the engine properly. Not sure if a cavalier would have one because usually only cars with V8 engines have the fan mounted to the engine. And all cavaliers I have ever seen have electric fans mounted directly to the radiator. Hope that helps.

You start by figuring out what's wrong with it. The repair will be much different in the instance of broken wiring than it will be if the fan motor has burned out, you know? You need to perform some diagnosis first and narrow down the possible faults.
