good luck left rear bumper no room for both hand took me 4 hours
underneath the rear of the vehicle near the spare tire if i remember right. it is on the side of a black box (evap canister) it is the "vent control valve". it could be other things than just the valve itself setting this code.
Troublecode P1490 means: EVAP Vacuum Cut Valve Bypass Valve Circuit Malfunction
drop the spare tire,under neath the spare tire the canister is right there,undo 3 12mm bolts and the canister will come down,then theres 2 10mm that hold the vent control valve in there undo the vapor lines and the vent valve connector and reinstall new one
It is under rear in back of xterra under the spare tire next to evap can.

The 2004 Nissan Xterra PCV valve is located on the outside of the air cleaner housing. The PCV valve can be found on the back of the air cleaner housing.

The evap canister is located under the vehicle close to the fuel tank. The canister is charcoal filled and holds fumes from the tank.
