I've had this problem on my 88 XJ6...If the door handles are original the chance of repairing it is NIL..you'll need to purchase a new unit and replace....Be ready for price SHOCK
Zeffer: have you tried opening up your door and trying to fix it?
my handle on the outside wouldn't work so i opened it up and there is a linkage with a screw holding it together, adjusting this nut to the center most position fixed it. now it opens just fine. otherwise its a 250+ fix

Check the fuses in the box in front of the drivers door panel
where is any hood latch? usually located near the drivers left foot, under the dash board.....
The drivers side is the odd side, #1 is in front.
1988 Jaguar XJ6 stats Front Speakers: 3-1/2" Rear Speakers -Rear Door: 4" -Rear Deck: 4"
I had a similar problem. The trunk latch on the way out, the micro switch wasn't closing and the trunk light was staying on. The design of the trunk latch is pony (plastic hook) - hence the "do not slam" warning tag. This may not be you problem but it's a good place to start.
yes start at the tire that is furthest away from the master cylinder usely the passenger rear then the drivers rear then the passenger front then the drivers front
1-5-3-6-2-4 Number 1 cylinder is at the front of the engine
3940 pounds there is an info panel on the side of the drivers door by the door latch that has all that kind of stuff listed
drivers side frame roughly right under the front seat
Should be 4 bolts one in each corner

Most fuses are in the front foot wells on the passenger and drivers side. They are behind panels just in front of where the door hinges and are just held in with one screw for each. Inside the panels it tells you what each fuse is for and how many amps that fuse should be. -------------
