door catches on a latch partly open how can it be repaired
Can't say for positive sure, but I would expect the Freestar/Monterey blend door actuator motor to be much like the Windstar. Common failure, easy replacement - about $40 See "Related Questions" below for links to the Windstar related blend door discussions
on the end of each door , visible with the door open
If it's a slow clicking sound and it goes away when turning the blend door knob it's most likely a stripped out temperature blend door motor.See "Related Questions" below - although written for the Windstar, it should be nearly 100% the same on the Freestar/Monterey...
If it is not visible in the door jambs - it may incorporated in the latch mechanism similar to the newer Ford models
take it to thhe local ford dealer and have them show it to you that is not one of those things that are put on a bulitingboard.
If code isn't written in the owners manual then remove the drivers door panel and get the code on label of the door handle.
They are attached to the bottom of the door latch mechanism. You will need to remove the door panel to access it.
If it is like the car it is located inside the door latch mechanism
On the 2004 4-door Alero (cannot vouch for any other year or body type) the driver's door switch is integral to the door-lock mechanism. You must remove the door panel to access this mechanism.
