On my son's 1993 Dynasty we removed the axle assembly and welded steel plate in under the spring perches. You'll need a buddy.
Remove the lower shock bolts (2). Remove the rear brake drums by removing the dust caps, pulling the cotter pins, removing the lock nuts and then the spindle nuts and washers. There are 2 bearings in each drum, inner and outer. The outer bearing will fall out when you pull the drum (it's supposed to) and the inner bearing is captured by the inner seal in the drum. Unbolt the rear brake shoe assemblies, do not dismantle the assembly(4 bolts on each backing plate). Do not disconnect the hydraulic brake lines! Disconnect the emergency brake cables from the main cable running to the rear of the car. There are clips and such holding the brake lines to the trailing arms on the axle. Make sure to remove these. After the lines are free from the axle hang the rear drum assemblies from the upper rear wheel well of the car to keep them from being damaged. Remove the trailing arm bolts (2) and the lower track bar bolt. careful the axle will be free to fall at this point (buddy). I sand blasted the entire axle and then made up 3/16" x 7 or 8" plate to go under the perches and welded them in. You'll probably find that the centers of the perches are pretty much rotted away. Since these were there to locate the coil springs I bent up some 3/16" x 1" pieces of steel and X'd them in the center of the perches and welded them in. After the repairs were made the entire axle was coated with eastwood rust encapsulator to prevent further corrosion. Installation is the reverse of disassembly, but get new rear wheel bearing seals and repack the wheel bearings before putting it all back together.
Spring into the engine.
