The problem seems to be with the AVG antivirus software so check if there is an update from them. Suggested work arounds have been: add "C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod" as an exception under Resident Shield>Manage Exceptions>Add Path. And possibly also: add the iTunes\iTunes Resources directory as an exception
then it sometimes works fine and iTunes works as normal.
The fix is to run itunes as administrator
Connect it to a computer/laptop that has itunes in it
To fix the iTunes error 13014 on your iMac, try the following steps: First, update iTunes to the latest version to ensure compatibility. Next, check your media files for corruption by using the "Consolidate Files" option in the iTunes menu. If the issue persists, consider resetting the iTunes library by renaming the "iTunes" folder in your Music directory and then restarting iTunes, which will create a new library.

If you have windows, then you and I have had the same problem. I had just given up on Itunes for a while becuase I tried everything I could think of to fix it. I was searching the internet for solutions and one suggested uninstalling QuickTime. I did this and immediately tried Itunes and it came on with no difficulties. I have no idea why this works, but it does!
