How do you get birth control?

Medical Birth Control (the pill, NuvaRing, IUDs, etc) can be obtained by asking your doctor or nurse practitioner. However, some doctors require a gynecological exam and pap smear before they will prescribe them to you. This requirement is not recommended by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, so talk to a few offices to find out if their practices are up-to-date.

Condoms, spermicides, and other forms of birth control can be purchased at almost any pharmacy or convenience store such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, or Rite-Aide. Even some gas stations sell condoms.
You can obtain birth control by seeing a gynaecologist or by going to Planed Parent Hood! There are many different types of birth control so make sure youresearch the different types and talk to your gynaecologist to see which would be best for you!

It's usually easiest to go to your Dr, as they can advise you on which birth control would suit you best, and some of them are only available this way, such as the coil, the implant and the injection. You can however buy condoms in most chemists and supermarkets if you don't wish to go to your Dr.
