I think you have to reach the end of Shimmer Desert and defeat Groudon there. You have a good chance of recruiting Groudon when you defeat him, but still not guranteed. Bring a Golden Mask or something in case so you don';t get screwed out of recruiting him like I did.

∙ 8y agoGroudon is the boss of Shimmer Desert, guarding the Terra Cymbal, one of the seven legendary treasures. If you beat him, there is a chance of him joining your team. Improve this chance by holding an Amber Tear or Golden Mask.

∙ 8y agoThere quickest way is to trade with someone who already has a Groudon.
Otherwise, Groudon can be caught in Omega Ruby and then transferred to X via the Pokemon Bank, or traded to X.
Note: Groudon cannot know the move Precipice Blades or Primal Reverse in X.
