Yes for the majority a memory card reader can read an SD card. An SD card is actually one of the most popular memory cards available right now.
A USB SD card reader is a device that will read an SD card (like the ones used in cameras and PDAs) and send the information to the computer via USB. They will usually read other cards too.

You don't, this does not have built in sd card reader. You need to get a usb sd card reader, then you put the sd card into the card reader, then plug the card reader into your usb slot.
Doesn't matter, all of them will read SD cards.
I have an acer 5100, and I have not been able to read sdhc cards with my sd reader.
Yes. Using a Card reader allows your memory card to be treated just as any other flash drive. You can read and write to it.
A micro Sd card is the best to use because Kingston makes a usb reader for micro SD cards. You plug the micro SD card into the USB reader then the USB reader is plugged into one of the USB ports on your laptop and will read it as an external drive.
You probably don't. The vast majority of computers need an adapter to read any type of SD disk.
I assume you mean CARD instead of port; an SD port and an SD slot are essentially the same thing. The answer is that you don't. You can, of course, get an SD card reader that plugs into a USB port.
You can buy an SD card reader which plugs into the USB port on your laptop. The card is read like an external memory device. Here's an address for an example at "Tiger Direct": http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6634192&CatId=2825
Try reading two different CD cards. If neither can be read, try plugging the reader into another USB port or another computer. If it works in another computer, the problem is in your computer. If it still doesn't work, it is the SD Card reader. If it reads the other SD Card but still not the first one you tried to read, the problem is the SD Card. SD Cards can be re-formatted the same way you might format a 3 1/2" floppy disk.
